Los Banos Teacher Says Sexualized AI Image of Him Circulated Among Students

Los Banos, CA (August 25, 2026) — A substitute teacher in Los Banos says a sexualized, AI-generated image made to resemble him circulated among students and later resurfaced while he was teaching at another local school.

Luis DeSantiago described the incidents in an Aug. 24 WIRED investigation examining educators who have been targeted with AI-generated sexualized content.

DeSantiago said he first learned about the altered image in March. The article describes the image as incorporating elements of an older photograph of him that had been manipulated to depict him in lingerie and in a suggestive pose.

According to the investigation, DeSantiago brought the matter to administrators at a local middle school after learning the image was being shared online. He said the image continued to circulate and later resurfaced while he was substitute teaching at a local high school, where it was sent to him through Apple’s AirDrop feature during class.

DeSantiago said he eventually stopped accepting assignments at the middle school and told the publication he did not feel safe returning to the district at the time of the interview.

The middle school, high school and school district were not identified by name in the WIRED report.

DeSantiago’s experience was not the only case documented in the investigation. WIRED also spoke with three other educators who said students created or circulated sexualized or otherwise manipulated AI content depicting them, including a middle school teacher whose likeness was used in fake TikTok videos and an Arizona sixth-grade teacher who said students shared an AI-generated image of him kissing another male teacher.
