2 Arrested in Los Banos For Alleged Theft

LOS BANOS, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Two people were arrested for allegedly conspiring to steal property at Marshall’s in Los Banos, the city’s police department said Wednesday.

Police say on Jan. 27 an officer investigated a theft from Marshall’s. The theft involved multiple suspects conspiring to steal property from the store.

According to police, the suspects conducted a “push out” with store property valued at over $1,000.

The officer was able to identify multiple suspects in this group and an arrest warrant was issued for the suspects.

Police say they located and arrested 42-year-old Jose Sainz and 38-year-old Maria Vadivias, both of Los Banos, for felony counts of grand theft and conspiracy.

Due to the recent passage of the CA Proposition 36, police say Sainz was charged with theft for prior convictions.

Police say a residential search warrant was conducted on the 1200 block of Maryland Avenue where evidence of the crime was located, as well as some of the stolen property.

Officers report Sainz and Valdivias were booked into the Los Banos Police Department Jail with a bail of $20,000.
